The Coursol revolution is the nickname given to this street for its opposition to the demolition of the neighborhood carried out by the municipal administration of Montreal in the 1960s. As a heritage site, it is recognized for the multitude of its colorful facades. The facade of 2334 Coursol is made of gray stones from Montreal and has a pair of
bright orange doors which are the only doors of this color on the street. This district was known to be the place of residence of the baggage handlers of the Canadian Pacific at the time and which was the filming location of the Porter series produced by Radio Canada and it is also the district where Oscar Peterson, renowned international pianist, resided.
The destruction and reconstruction of the red brick district by the municipal administration gave the name of Little Burgundy to the village of Saint-Cunégonde which was merged into the town from Montreal. It should be noted that the name of rue Coursol comes from Judge Coursol who was mayor of Montreal in 1871. Remember that Coursol will lose his father very young and he was adopted by his uncle Frédéric-Auguste Quesnel, a very wealthy businessman, whose street parallel to rue Coursol bears his name.
